Friday 29 July 2011:
Namibia - Chile (2:3)
We had a very nervous start to the game and did not have a lot to offer against the Chiles attack. Consequently the first set was lost with 1:11. Coach Christian Schluep then made a number of changes in attack, where Michael Baas replaced Arend von Stryk and in defence Olaf Haase was replaced by Mark Roesener. Fortunes improved and we produced much better fistball losing closely by only 9:11. Another couple of replacements came on field with Michael Zimny taking over as setter. Chile also used the oppurtunity to blood a couple of youngsters. With a much better defensive performance Baas and Kubirske piled on the pressure in attack and we took home the third set. Fourth set also went to us. Chile did not find back to their game plan due to our solid allround performance.Chile brought back their starting lineup for the fifth and final set and started of the game with a 0:3 lead from which we never recovered. Final score 6:11.
